Plan Commission

The Skokie Plan Commission continues its review of proposed ADU zoning rules.

The Skokie Plan Commission continued its discussion on a proposed zoning amendment to allow accessory dwelling units after commissioners raised questions about parking, green space, and pending state legislation. The body also continued three development requests from Mackin Land Company for properties at 3738 & 3750 Touhy Avenue until supplemental materials are submitted. At its June 25 meeting, the commission approved an alley vacation north of 5142 Arcadia Street to support a private garage and resolved a fence encroachment at 9139 Laramie Avenue. These decisions affect local housing options, commercial development along Touhy Avenue, and private property boundaries.

✓ Decidido: Plan Commission advances ADU zoning case with negative recommendation

The Skokie Plan Commission voted 7-0 to advance Case 2025-21P, a proposed zoning text amendment for accessory dwelling units, to the Village Board with a negative recommendation. The recommendation was amended to reference 'certain aspects' of the amendment and to request that the Commission be allowed to reconsider before final board action. All other business was procedural: minutes approved and three cases continued to August 6, 2026.
