Update regarding Mural on BCWS Grates in Ferry Landing: Hope has begun the process.
She has primed the area and worked out sketching. On Thursday, 8/20 and Friday, 8/21
she will do the actual painting. I borrowed a 10x10 tent to shield the project from the
rain and Hope from the sun. I would like to get a photo with her while she’s painting and
then another once completed for our article in the Borough newsletter. Something
accomplished!

Comprehensive Plan Adoption Process
Jeremy Stoff reviewed the anticipated process for adoption of the Comprehensive Plan. The Planning
Commission is currently at the stage 0.
The anticipated process is:
1. Planning Commission review and a public open house.
2. Planning Commission consideration of public comments and revisions.
3. Formal transmission of the revised Plan to Borough Council.
4. A 45-day review period during which the Plan is transmitted to the County, school district, and adjacent
municipalities for comment.
5. A Borough Council public hearing.
6. Adoption of the Plan by resolution.
Once the Plan is formally transmitted to Borough Council, responsibility for the document shifts to Council.
The current target is to have a revised draft available for the September Planning Commission meeting,
followed by a public open house in October.

Proposed Amendment to Sign Ordinance

with deadline for that being 7/15.
Dead Flowers Replaced: Diana, Hitomi, myself went to Ash’s to purchase replacements

Hayrack on Post for Randolph Street Park: I would like to propose purchasing a hayrack
on a post (previously considered for S Main Street) to be installed in front of the stockade
fencing. Full shade annuals would need to be planted in the hayrack.

The May minutes were approved and the treasurer’s report accepted. Parks & Rec. has so far
spent $10,638.38 out of the $35,000 budget. This includes paying for the NWF certified
Community Habitat sign, Living Earth invoices, and other plants.
Paver Art accidentally sent two bricks with their name on them. They don’t want the bricks
returned. Stephanie will contact them to see if they would like to pay a discounted rate to have
their bricks installed in New Hope.
Naturalizing New Hope currently has 23 points towards 2026 recertification. Randy and/or
Pamm will be asking the Friends of the Delaware Canal to certify their new, hillside area.
Pamm has asked an Environmental Club member to try to get the new trees and other native
plants recently added at the school certified.
Pete Gray never set up a meeting with GoreCon. Beth will see if Erin or Michele can do so.
Randy doesn’t want to proceed with pruning in Lenape and Ferry Landing Parks, maybe the
Visitors Center, until this meeting.
Diana, Hitomi, and Beth bought replacements for plants that had died.

to 17 W. Ferry Street. Gloria pointed out that there is still a tree to be replaced at this address.
Waiting to hear back if they will plant another tree or pay in lieu of planting. Motion made and
approved to relocate the dogwood and plant a second tree at 17 W. Ferry Street.

SavATree Inventory:
o Review of dead trees: Completed review of dead, high priority trees; will have the Borough send
letters to property owners. Will also send letters to property owners with beech and ash trees that
need to be treated or removed.
o Anita provided the 2026 Analysis of Street Tree Species, which showed that the percentage of native
versus non-native tree species is basically an even split; however, that total number of street trees
was reduced in the past few y …

Mr. Voss reviewed three ordinance amendments referred by Borough Council related to sign regulations. He
explained the amendments were prompted by a sign application involving a commercial property on West
Mechanic Street.

b.Stormwater and MS-4/PAG-13 follow-up: If a community is under 50,000 residents it is not
required have to have a storm water management plan, unless designated otherwise. New
Hope is designated. Municipality can apply for a waver. New Hope applied for and was
granted a permit. Who applied and paid for this permit? There are six (6) minimum control
measures that are in place in the storm water management plan. Inquire with Peter about
what is the permit and where the stormwater plan is. New Hope has a stormwater ordinance,
and MaV will send it out the link to it.
c.NHSD school solar: On the school, there is some consideraGon for the pitched roof system
presented to the school board. Ross to review presentaGon.

Green Initiative Meeting: Meeting was held on 5/21. There was an in-depth
presentation by the Friends of the Delaware Canal regarding their efforts to
keep the water flowing in the canal/repairing the pump. They also shared
their plans to revamp the area of the berm (grass area from canal up to
current wooden walkway) with an elevated walkway that will connect
pedestrians to the towpath.
Green Roof: A request was made to discuss the possibility of utilizing the
space for a community garden.
America 250 Banners: Decide on style, placement, and number to order. The
chamber seems to have put up flags and generic bunting: 2 on the fence @

The meeting was called to order at 6:33 p.m. by Gloria Broeker. Also present: Reed Finch, resident.
The minutes for the April 15th meeting were approved.
Old Business
• Pending items:
o NWF Trees for Wildlife – seedlings include 36 each of Eastern Red Cedar, Swamp White Oak, Eastern
Redbud: Update: Gloria submitted the paperwork for compliance with the grant and received the
check.
New Business:
• Applications: None.
o Chocolate shop: Tree is not in inventory. Barbara Serratore (shop owner) called Gloria to say that
the tree was to be cut down; the landlord informed his maintenance person that the tree may come
down. Gloria told her to submit an application for the tree to be removed.
• Application follow-up; potential schedule: May 28th 29th or June 2nd. Update: Site visits will take place on
Tuesday, June 2 meeting at 9:30am at LSD. Will also check trees at the Parry Mansion.
• SavATree Inventory: Will also review list of dead trees next Tuesday during site visits.
• Budget available: $13,460.
• 5-Year Plan: Will review next month.
