*Previous minutes were approved* Pat approved and Joanne second it.
Other business:
Participation update- 40 for July 7 which will allow us to keep it on the patio at the golf
course. There will be a balloon artist will be there for entertainment. The center got a big
USA map to get the seniors involved with telling us what states they’ve been to. We will
hang it up during our hot dog event. Frankenmuth trip has 39 people signed up to go July
5-7 with Starlight bus company. Biltmore Estates has 41 people signed up. Travel club is
looking to book a cruise to Bermuda for Spring 2027.
The senior center has rebranded the trip flyers to avoid confusion with other trips from
other companies. There was a senior that was soliciting our seniors for her own trips and
benefits. Barb the new director is working on making sure no soliciting happens at the
center.
Unfinished Business:
Volunteer positions- Joe is now our new plant manager and has bought in plants to place
around the center. Jennifer let the committee know that we have a plant plot in the
community garden. Joan showed interesting in helping with the community garden. There
is a weekend staff member that will check on the garden on Sundays. Jennifer has the keys
to the shed in her office if anyone wants to water …

• Roll call: Resident Ken Robinson, Trustee Mike Light, Resident Anndel Rang, Trustee Jon Biacan,

• Village Administrator Doug Flint stated the only agenda item was an ordinance to offer Glendale
Heights residents a service line program.
Background and Why This is Coming Back
• Doug said the true market cost to replace a sewer line is about $10,000 to $12,000 (and sewer
lining can run about $17,000 to $20,000), so the prior village program heavily subsidized repairs
and competed with private businesses.
• The Village ended the old program roughly “five, six, seven years ago.”
• Doug argued there’s still resident need due to aging infrastructure (neighborhoods about 25 to
60 years old), mature trees/root intrusion, and frequent/expensive failures; he cited seeing a
sewer line replacement underway on Fullerton Avenue.
• Doug emphasized the new program is not a village-run program; it’s a voluntary private
insurance product residents can enroll in/cancel like other insurance.
• Coverage areas described: exterior water service line, exterior sewer service line, interior
plumbing and drainage protection.
