The Board of Commissioners held a work session and affirmed that the Wake County Firearms Education and Training Center (FETC) will remain a joint-use facility for the public and law enforcement. They directed staff to proceed with negotiations with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission for interim management of the public portion of the range, while the Sheriff's Office continues to manage law enforcement scheduling. The board also received updates on the Wake Works apprenticeship initiative, emergency operations, and the PLANWake comprehensive plan, but took no formal votes on these items.

The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a Business Development Grant Agreement with Microsoft Corporation for a software engineering and development facility, creating 500 new jobs with an average salary of $125,000 and an estimated $50 million investment. The board also approved a resolution consenting to refugee resettlement in Wake County under Executive Order 13888, and received the FY 2019 Wake Transit Annual Report.
