Joint Powers Solid Waste Advisory Board

The Vermillion City Council will hold a special noon meeting to award two electrical supply contracts for the new Light & Power building construction. The administration recommends awarding the materials bid to Graybar Electric for $137,465.60 and the generator bid to 3E Electrical Engineering for $62,994.00.

Planning & Zoning Commission
The Commission will review ordinances to define 'Special Mixed-Use Buildings' and establish Tax Increment District #13. They will also consider a final plat for the Bliss Pointe Addition.

Planning & Zoning Commission
The Planning Commission will hold public hearings on two ordinances. One would rezone about 3 acres on Timber Road from agricultural to heavy industrial to allow storage units; staff recommends light industrial instead. The other would officially reduce the joint jurisdiction boundary by about 1,391 acres. The commission will take public comment and make recommendations.
- Ordinance 1562: Rezone ~3 acres (Tract 2, Grunewaldt Addition) on north side of Timber Road, 1 mile west of Vermillion, from A-1 Agricultural to HI Heavy Industrial for storage units.
- Staff recommends LI Light Industrial instead of HI to limit nuisance uses.
- Ordinance 1561: Amend Joint Jurisdiction boundary, reducing it by ~1,391 acres in areas west of SD Highway 19 and south of Timber Road, and south of East Main Street.
- First readings of both ordinances are scheduled for July 20, 2026.
