Board of Commissioners Work Session

Planning Board

The Union County Planning Board will consider two rezoning petitions and rule amendments. Consolidated Human Services Board

Consolidated Human Services Board

The Consolidated Human Services Board will consider recommendations for a new board member appointment. The board will also review requested fee additions to the Division of Public Health schedule. Additionally, members will receive updates on dental clinic operations and COVID-19 vaccination efforts.

The board approved the minutes and agenda, and endorsed Earl Ford to serve as a consumer of Human Services, which will be forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners. They also approved the Division Report, which included minor edits to operating procedures and a request for public health clinical service fees. No old business was discussed.

Planning Board

The Planning Board will review and approve the June 2021 meeting minutes. The board will also consider a recommendation to the Board of Commissioners regarding rezoning application RZ-2021-005, which proposes changing land use from R-20 to RA-20 to allow cattle.

The Union County Planning Board met on October 5, 2021, and approved the agenda and June 2021 minutes. The board voted to table the Sherin rezoning request (RZ-2021-005). Staff reported that a prior rezoning on Hayes Rd was approved by the Board of County Commissioners, and that staff is developing an ordinance amendment to allow residential use in Highway Corridor zoning.

The board unanimously approved the consent agenda, which included a flow monitoring contract for the Eastside Regional Wastewater Collection System, purchase of transportation vehicles, and multiple contract renewals. A public hearing was held for an economic development incentive grant for Windsor Window Company (Project Millwork), with Commissioner Rushing recused; the grant was later approved 4-0. The board also unanimously approved amendments to its rules of procedure and a Monroe-Union Economic Development Agreement.

Board of Commissioners

The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the consent agenda as submitted and amended, which included numerous contracts, purchases, and appointments. The board also approved a separate consent agenda for appointments to the South Piedmont Community College Board of Trustees, the Town of Wingate's Joint Land Use Board, and the Partners Board of Directors. The meeting adjourned at approximately 7:30 p.m.
