Council

The Presque Isle City Council approved the 2021 municipal budget, setting total appropriations of $14,239,375 and a net General Fund spending budget of $7,311,502, with an Airport Fund net appropriation of -$41,770. The council also adopted changes to the Presque Isle Development Fund By-Laws, approved a taxi license for Jeff's Taxi, and transferred funds for a winterization program and microfinancing. All votes were 6-0.

The Presque Isle City Council held a budget workshop and approved several resolutions. The council voted 4-0 to transfer $250,000 from surplus to City Hall capital reserves for building improvements. They also approved moving dispatch to MainePERS Plan 3C (4-0) and authorized an RFQ for a new heating system at the Forum (4-0). A motion to waive foreclosures on certain properties passed 3-1, with Councilor Chasse opposing, while consideration of the Bonville properties was tabled.

Additionally, the council approved a $368,900 bulldozer purchase funded by a federal grant and a 7-year contract for Questica financial software.

The Presque Isle City Council voted 6-0 to authorize the City Manager to hire a traffic engineer to study the Riverside Drive and Chapman Road intersection, after MDOT said a stop sign could not be installed there. The council also rescheduled the Dangerous Buildings hearing to June 3, approved the consent agenda including warrants totaling $1,319,390.27, transferred $10,000 from the Asphalt Account to the Street Overlay reserve, and accepted drug forfeiture proceeds. No other substantive decisions were made; the goal-setting session was discussion only.
