Council considers affordable housing overlay district and demolition moratorium

Philadelphia City Council will vote on an ordinance to create an affordable housing preservation district with a temporary demolition moratorium. The agenda also includes a redevelopment contract for Page Street properties with Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia, Inc.

The City Council met and approved the journal of the previous meeting. Several bills and resolutions were introduced, including measures to amend the Home Rule Charter on age requirements for city officials and to create an Office of Inspector General, as well as bills on campaign finance and ethics. The Council also adopted numerous resolutions honoring individuals and organizations, and authorized a committee to hold hearings on the fashion and garment industry. No final votes were taken on the introduced bills.
