Comprehensive Planning Steering Committee

The committee was informed that the Town of Manlius received a CSC Grant to complete a Climate Action Plan, which will be developed in conjunction with the Comprehensive Plan. Members discussed outreach efforts, noting 11 of 14 outreach activities are complete, and reviewed the draft Community Profile. No formal votes or binding decisions were made; the meeting focused on process updates and planning next steps.

Planning Board

The Manlius Planning Board will review an initial presentation for a two-lot subdivision on North Burdick Street. The board will also discuss a site plan and special use permit for a solar array on Bowman Road. Additionally, there is a zone change recommendation for Medical Center Drive.

The Manlius Planning Board accepted the withdrawal of Abundant Solar Power's special use permit application for a solar array at 5701 Bowman Road, terminating the project. The board also discussed a 2-lot subdivision for Ryan Smith, recommending he seek variances from the Zoning Board of Appeals. A zone change request for a medical center was tabled for further discussion at the next meeting.

Town Board

The Town Board held a public hearing on a proposed zone change for properties on N. The board issued a negative declaration under SEQR, declared itself lead agency, and kept the hearing open for the February 23 meeting. The board also approved several contracts, including a $139,965.39 salt storage shed, and authorized school district special patrol officer agreements.

The Manlius Planning Board voted unanimously to send a positive recommendation to the Town Board for a zone change on the Fietta property, which is the proposed site for a new Town Hall. The board also held a public hearing on a solar array project at 5701 Bowman Road but tabled the decision until February 14, 2022. Additionally, the board approved a one-year extension for the Kirkville Road solar special use permit, with two members opposed.
