Arts Advisory Board

The Luzerne County Arts Advisory Board will meet to review the status of a survey of arts organizations and the 'In Concert' event. The board will also discuss developing citizen support for the arts and planning future meeting locations.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission is considering Final Plan Approval for a self-storage development in Ross Township. The body is also seeking to ratify a phone ballot regarding a deadline extension for a training center project in Kingston.

Children & Youth Advisory Board

The board decided to alter its 2024 meeting dates and times, moving several sessions to 4:30 p.m. and canceling meetings in January, July, August, and December. The agency reported that 370 children are currently in placement, compared to 540 in June 2022.

Convention Center Authority

The Board of Directors approved routine bill payments and two specific expenditures for bond calculations and equipment. The body also received updates on venue events and ongoing facility maintenance projects.

County Council

County Council

Luzerne County Council is holding a work session to discuss February 2024 division reports and a proposed resolution for a tax exemption. The resolution concerns new construction in deteriorated areas of Hazle Township under the Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance Act.

County Council

Luzerne County Council is reviewing an ordinance to amend the 2024 fiscal year budget. The change would create new line items to track revenue and expenses for the internal management of the Hazleton Broad Street Exchange Building.

County Council

Luzerne County Council is considering an ordinance to amend the 2024 General Fund budget. The amendment would allow the Luzerne County Correctional Facility to use $336,364 in federal grant funds from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD).
