7. New Town Task Force Report
A New Town Task Force was appointed by the County Executive via executive order on May 14, 2025 with an
amendments issued on June 3, 2025 and May 12, 2026. The Task Force evaluated present New Town
regulations, found in Section 125 of the Howard County Zoning Code, and developed recommendations for
improving the New Town zoning model that governs land use in much of the master-planned community of
Columbia. The task force’s findings and final recommendations can be found on the New Town Task Force
website. The facilitation team for the task force will be presenting a summary of the task force process, final
report, and recommendations to the Planning Board on July 9th, 2026.
