Mayor Cecere shared that he met with Senator Helming last week about housing, economic development,
occupancy tax, and how to get more state support. He also met with Ontario County Economic Developer
Ryan Davis, County Administrator Chris DeBolt, and Board of Supervisors Chair Bill Wellman. This group
discussed where the City is headed, and how the County can support the City in many areas, including
economic development, with real support for initiatives, as the largest city in the county. The Mayor
explained that the County is also working towards an occupancy tax, noting that he would like that to align
back to the City, with the funds generated to be put towards ongoing tourism support. Mayor Cecere also
raised the issue of funding lakefront repairs with the Senator and County related to damages from recent
storms and flooding.
Mayor Cecere then provided an update on the City Manager recruitment process, explaining that Council
will continue to pursue a City Manager form of government, while reviewing the role of City staff and council

Mayor's Report
Mayor Cecere introduced this meeting as the first Governance Meeting. He explained that legislation and
other agenda items on Governance Meeting agendas will be related to ordinances, local laws, and other
governance items.
Mayor Cecere also shared that he would be walking on a resolution for 2027 Budget Direction.
b.
Council Reports
Councilor Petropoulos shared that the LDC met today, where some good ideas were brought up. He went
on to share that there is a lot going on in Ward 5; the Memorial Day Parade was a success. Councilor
Petropoulos attended 2 ribbon cutting ceremonies for new businesses, gave the opening speech for the Air
Force Heritage Band when they performed at the Smith Opera House, and met with Assembly Gallahan
about railroad crossings, which should be repaired any day now. Councilor Petropoulos invited everyone to
the July 4th event at the Gazebo at Lakefront park with historical speech reenactments and a brass band.
Councilor Petropoulos further shared that the Downtown Ad Hoc Committee met last night, where Ontario
