The Technical Coordinating Committee recommended adoption of the Wake County Transit Plan Update to the Executive Board by unanimous vote. The committee also approved a policy for supporting member-designated project funding (earmarks), recommended Amendment #4 to the FY2020-2029 Transportation Improvement Program, and voted to use $5.9 million in COVID relief funds to replenish LAPP balances rather than program new projects. Several informational reports were received, including updates on connected vehicle technology and the regional ITS deployment plan.

Executive Board

The Capital Area MPO Executive Board will hold a public hearing on the Wake County Transit Plan Update and consider approving a contract for a Bus Rapid Transit Extensions study. The board will also vote on consent items including a CMAQ funding endorsement, the FY 22 Unified Planning Work Program, and federal transit fund allocations. The meeting is virtual due to COVID-19.

Technical Coordinating Committee

The Technical Coordinating Committee is reviewing the Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) for FY 22 and the distribution of FFY 2021 Federal Transit Administration formula grants. The committee will recommend that the Executive Board adopt the FY 22 UPWP and approve the sub-allocation of funds for Sections 5307, 5340, 5339, and CRRSAA. Additional items include a preliminary deficiency analysis for the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan and updates on the Wake County Transit Plan.

This body coordinates transportation planning for Wake County and portions of Franklin, Granville, Johnston, and Harnett counties.

Technical Coordinating Committee

The committee will also receive updates on several transportation planning efforts, including the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan and the Wake Transit Vision Plan.
