EDA

The Blaine EDA unanimously approved Resolution No. 21-01, authorizing a $58,000 sponsorship for the 2021 3M Open PGA Tour event at TPC Twin Cities. The sponsorship provides access to a hospitality tent and 40 event tickets per day, intended to support economic development. The expenditure was already included in the 2021 EDA budget. The meeting also approved the December 21, 2020 minutes.

Nat'l Resources Conservation Board
The Natural Resources Conservation Board approved its 2021 goals, which include continuing work on the Blaine Wetland Sanctuary (BWS) and Pioneer Park, and conducting park tours. The board also received updates on the Open Space Capital Improvement Fund budget, BWS southern portion restoration, and the proposed Main Street Wetland Mitigation Bank. No public comments were received.

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission will hold public hearings for residential developments at Haverhill and Groveland Village. The first involves subdividing 6.7 acres into 44 townhome lots at 122nd Avenue NE and Fraizer Street NE. The second proposes rezoning and subdividing approximately 26.96 acres at the northwest corner of 93rd Lane and County Road J.

City Council Workshop

The first is a 102-unit senior cooperative housing project by United Properties at 11967 and 11985 Radisson Road. The second is a $35 million industrial campus by Artis REIT near I-35W and County Road J, with discussion on TIF options but no final decision. The Council also directed staff to draft an ordinance regulating targeted picketing in residential areas and to proceed with the 2021 board/commission interview process.

All votes were unanimous (7-0) except the minutes approval, which had one abstention.
